A warm and delightful bowl of Butter Chicken

Butter Chicken

Butter Chicken is a simple Indian-style Chicken dish cooked with creamy vegetable curry, spices, and butter. If you’ve been to an Indian restaurant, you might remember the pleasing aroma of spice-infused food and hot desserts dissolving in the air, putting all your senses to life. It’s enough to beat the weariness you feel post a long working day.

But what do you do when you crave a warming bowl of butter chicken at home? You can still relish it without stepping out of the house by following our very own recipe of Butter Chicken. But if you’re not in the mood to cook, it is one of the best Indian dishes to order and get it home delivered to enjoy in the convenience of your home.

The dish is packed with intense flavors like garlic, ginger, and nuts that add the punch people search for in Indian food.

Preparation and ingredients

Marinate your chicken in yogurt mixed with spices like black pepper powder, red chili powder, turmeric, and salt, and let it rest for at least 45 minutes to an hour. When you start cooking, take a pan, add some oil for shallow frying, and put the chicken into the pan to fry until the chicken is a bit charred on the outside. When the chicken is properly broiled, set it aside and start making the curry.

It is easier if you always keep your ingredients ready to be used, and that includes ground onions, tomato puree (canned tomato would also work), ginger-garlic paste, and some whole and ground spices and cilantro for garnish.

Spices that go in the curry

Spices that you would need to make your curry aromatic and flavorful are red chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, garam masala, and salt. You can use the whole spices like bay leaf, cloves, and peppercorns as well if you have them in hand.

How to Make Butter Chicken

This classic Indian dish is as easy to cook as it is tasty. You can start by adding butter and frying cumin and whole spices. Add ginger-garlic paste and onions and let them cook until the onion changes color. To make a nice curry, pour tomato puree (let the tomatoes become completely soft if you’re using canned tomatoes) and sprinkle all the spices and saute for 10-12  minutes.

Now is the time you can add heavy cream to make the curry rich. Now combine broiled chicken and the sauce and cook for 2 minutes on low flame. The butter chicken is ready to serve.

How to Serve

To serve Butter chicken, you can transfer it into a bowl and top it with fresh cream and butter. Add mint sauce and onion salad on the side and serve it with a bowl of jeera (cumin) rice and freshly baked butter naan.

This finger-licking Indian dish is worth all the effort. So, try it today at home or meet us at Indian Grill in San Leandro to taste the goodness.
